USS CLAXTON DD571 REUNIONS

 

A reunion is being planned for 2009. To be held in San Diego CA. Information
will be available sometime in Spring of 2009.

The last reunion was held Sept, 18,19 and 20, 2007 in Savannah GA

A special reunion was held in Orange TX on October 10-13 2002.
This was the 60th anniversary of the USS Claxton, which was built in Orange.
The other three Orange built Little Beaver ships joined us for the reunion there.
This special reunion was sponsored by the Southeast Texas War Memorial and the Orange Shipbuilding Industry.

    A mini-reunion is held each year at some place in Florida.
Some in the past have been held at Homossa Springs, Fla.in 1985, Silver Springs, Fla. in 1992, Crystal River, Fla. in 1993, Titusville, Fla. in 1994, Pensacola, Fla. in 1997,St.Augustine, Fla, in 1998. These are usually held in March of each year. The 1999 Mini-reunion was held at Vero Beach, Florida April 15
through 17, 1999. A 2001 reunion was held in Tampa, Fla. A 2002 reunion was held in Silver Springs, Fla. March 14-17. And 2003 in St. Petersburg, Fla.  For more information about mini-reunions contact Bill Monfort at the address above.

Our "Keeper of the Roster" is Bill "Red" Monfort. Bill was Chief Radioman USN aboard the CLAXTON during her entire War career. He keeps the crew advised about up-coming
reunions and other things of interest about the CLAXTON. He has done an excellent job
keeping us informed through these many years.
